Auckland District

The Auckland Unitary Plan provides one set of rules for the entire Auckland Region. This region extends from Bombay in the South to Te Hana in the North and encompasses everything between the West and East Coasts of this area.

The Auckland Unitary Plan rules specify that Transferable Title Rights (TTRs) can be generated in three ways:

  • Physical and legal protection of qualifying Significant Ecological Area (SEA) indigenous bush or wetland
  • Amalgamation of existing rural titles consisting of High class 1, 2 and 3 soils
  • Indigenous revegetation plantings

Under the Auckland Unitary Plan rules, there are 5 Rural Zones:

  • Rural Production
  • Mixed Rural
  • Coastal Rural
  • Rural Conservation
  • Countryside Living Zones

Transferable Subdivision Rights, (otherwise known as Transferable Title Rights (TTRs) or Transferable Development Rights (TDRs), can only be transferred into certain identified Rural Countryside Living Zones.

Applicable Rural Countryside Living Zones are:

  • Algies Bay
  • Lucas Heights
  • Stillwater
  • Albany
  • Matakana
  • Snells Beach
  • Coatesville
  • Paremoremo
  • Taupaki
  • Dairy Flat
  • Puhoi
  • Waitakere
  • Helensville
  • Riverhead
  • Waimauku
  • Kumeu-Huapai
  • Runciman
  • Wellsford
  • Kaukapakapa
  • Warkworth
